President’s Welcome - President Art Cohen
- Special Thanks to Bill Barrett for printing new member badges featuring our new club name/logo, and for making the extra effort to be able to accept payments for the dinner buffet.
- Special Thanks to Sam Kumar and Mayuri Indian Cuisine for so generously providing their banquet facilities and service, free coffee and water, and offering a delicious buffet for purchase.
- Special Thanks to Belinda Stow, Catherine Williams and David Donaldson for their work to coordinate and setup the meeting in our new venue.
- Jennie Hutchinson introduced the Women’s Caucus Action of the Evening – postcards to stop Betsy Devos from destroying Title IX in cooperation with Enough is Enough Voter Project.
- Art Cohen introduced our guest speaker for the evening: Morgan Hill Mayor Rich Constantine.
Feature Presentation - Democracy: The Great Experiment Continues - Morgan Hill Mayor Rich Constantine
- Mayor Constantine shared his rich history of service, path to political office, perspective on what it means to serve, and spoke on several issues specific to Morgan Hill (affordable housing, transportation, schools, etc.) offering insight on how they relate to these same issues in our larger South Bay community.

Women’s Caucus Report - Vice President Jennie Hutchinson
- Jennie Hutchinson spoke about the San Jose Women’s March Event, showing photos of SVDC Eboard Member Michele Dauber speaking at the event about the effort to Save Title IX and other SVDC members who marched and volunteered along with her. She introduced Women’s March San Jose President Jenny Bradanini, who is also a candidate for San Jose City Council District 10.
- Jenny Bradanini spoke about the San Jose Women’s March Event, showing photos of the march and rally. An estimated 18,000 people attended the march this year. Jenny explained that despite the recent controversy with Women’s March, Inc. (also known as “National”), Women’s March San Jose (as well as California and Bay Area) are independent organizations who are organized and funded solely through local contributions and volunteers.
New Website & Member Services - Corresponding Secretary LezLi Logan
- LezLi Logan provided a demonstration and preview of the new website currently under development by the Transition Team. Some of the new features include: Increased security and ease-of-use for online interactions and payments, ability for all members to update their own contact information and membership data at any time, Easy online Membership renewal with automated reminders, Event registration with online payments and automated reminders, Fully responsive website, newsletter and emails. Easily read the newsletter on your mobile device!, Increased efficiency for club volunteers and security controls, Club Blogs and User Forums with moderation controls, and Compilation Calendar of Events with other Bay Area Progressive Groups

- We will have committee signup sheets available at the next meeting in February. In the meantime, an online form is available on the current club website for members to sign-up to participate.
