He graduated from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics. After graduation, he worked in Ottawa, Canada for Bell Northern Research in semiconductor process development. While there, he earned a Masters in Engineering in Semiconductor Physics from Carleton University, Ottawa. He was then transferred to Palo Alto, CA and later worked at American Microsystems. During this time, he volunteered to campaign for Jimmy Carter in his successful first campaign. Also during this time, he met and married his wife, Catherine, a dental hygienist. Shortly after being married, they moved to Germany where he worked for Siemens and Cathy worked as a dental hygienist. The original plan was to live there for just two years, but, 6 ½ years and two children later, they were still there, which was when they returned to California, living now in San Jose. They now have four sons and two grandchildren (so far). During the following years, he worked leading chip design groups at AMD as a Fellow, Rambus and lastly at Oracle from where he retired in 2017. He then set up a consultancy, ProPrincipia International Associates. Professional activities included being for several years on the Program Committee of the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC). In addition, he was Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee for Microcomputers and Microprocessors (TCMM) for four years, Hot Chips General Chair in 2008, Steering Committee for the Hot Chips Conference, Steering Committee and co-General Chair of the Hot Interconnects Symposium for 2019. His interest in the Silicon Valley Democratic Club is to promote broad goals of environmental protection and reducing income and wealth inequality. As smaller steps in this direction he has met with a few like-minded members to discuss immediate objectives for endorsement such as all mail-in ballots which was approved by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. His current objectives are ranked-choice voting and making PG&E a publicly-owned utility. | Adia Hoag • At-Large Board Member Jeffrey Levin • At-Large Board Member Jeff Orloff • At-Large Board Member Frank Ponciano • At-Large Board Member Fred Rehhausser • At-Large Board Member Kristin Rivers • At-Large Board Member ✪ Alexia Worsham • At-Large Board Member ✪ Marlene Zapata • At-Large Board Member ✪ Rosie Zepeda • At-Large Board Member |

BylawsThe SVDC Bylaws is the foundational document of the Silicon Valley Democratic Club--the rules and regulations enacted by our club to provide a framework for the operation and management of SVDC.
| Policies & ProceduresThe SVDC Policies & Procedures report is intended to document policies approved by the E-Board which do not modify the Bylaws and remain in effect until superseded by a more recent policy. This report is always a work in progress.
